Penalties Costly As Springfield Falls To Shreveport

Sep 23, 2017

Going into Saturday’s contest with the Shreveport Mudbugs, the Springfield Jr. Blues had successfully killed all 12 short-handed opportunities through the first 3 games of the season. However, their recent penalty-kill success came to an end Saturday.

Shreveport capitalized early by scoring 2 power play goals in the first period and then adding 2 more goals in the third to defeat Springfield 4-0 at the NAHL Showcase.

Springfield had difficulty managing much offense throughout the game, tallying just 20 shots in the 60 minutes played.

Michael Corson was in net for Springfield, stopping 18 of 22 shots on goal.

Springfield will wrap up play in the NAHL Showcase on Saturday afternoon against the Austin Bruins. Puck drops for the contest at 3:30. Springfield fans can watch the game at Cooper’s AlleySide restaurant, located inside King Pin Lanes at the corner of Sangamon & Dirksen.
