Neuhoff Main Camp Concludes

Jul 22, 2012

The Neuhoff Media Jr. Blues Main camp concluded Sunday with a spirited all-star game that capped off the week long camp that included a Goalie Camp, Rookie Camp and Invite only Camp. Over 150 players from across North America and Europe converged on Springfield to compete for the honor of donning the Jr. Blues sweater in 2012-13 season. The camp consisted of 15 games, between 4 teams named after Neuhoff Media stations, team KISSFM 99.7, team BOSS 96.7, team 104.5 WFMB, and team Sports Radio 1450.

Invite Camp kicked off with Springfield’s own Sam Madonia broadcasting his morning show from the lobby of Nelson Center. Sam’s Guests included new Jr. Blues Head Coach/GM Tony Zasowski and Assistant Coach Mike Janda to discuss The New Blues Standard and to get some behind the scenes insight into the player selections process. New Jr. Blues owner Dan Ferguson also joined the conversation to discuss the new ownership and his dedication to keep the Jr. Blues in Springfield. When asked “Why Springfield?” Ferguson replied “Why NOT Springfield!” He added” Springfield has had been apart of the North American Hockey league longer than any other city, it would silly to move the Jr. Blues out of town! The history here is rich and we are dedicated to keeping junior hockey in Springfield.”

Overall the Camp was a huge success. Fans, parents and coaches were treated to a high caliber of junior hockey that ultimately made some tough decisions for the coaching staff. Many fans stated that they have not seen a crop of potential Jr. Blues as talented as this group.
