Lekkas Makes Division 1 Commitment

The Springfield Jr. Blues are proud to announce that Stefanos Lekkas has committed to the University of Vermont NCAA Division One Men’s Ice Hockey Team. The Catamounts compete in the Hockey East conference with Coach Tony Zasowski’s Alma Mater Notre Dame, and other schools such as Maine, Boston University, Boston College, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Merrimack, UMASS Amherst, UMASS Lowell, and Providence.        

                                    On @S_Lekkas, Stefanos tweeted, “Excited to announce my commitment to play hockey at the University of Vermont. Want to thank my family, coaches and friends!#catamounts.”  On the other side of the pond Head Coach Tony Zasowski on a trip to Moscow Russia stated, “I’m very proud of what Stefanos accomplished last season. He has worked extremely hard to earn this prestigious honor. The University of Vermont has acquired an excellent goaltender. I’m excited to watch him succeed at the next level.”  

Stefanos played 49 games with the Springfield Jr. Blues posting a .925 save percentage. He also appeared in one game with the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL), making 12 saves in 31 minutes of hockey.
