Jr. Blues Travel to Flint this Weekend

The Springfield Jr. Blues take their show on the road this weekend as they travel to Flint, Michigan to take on the Michigan Warriors. This weekend marks the 7th and 8th meeting between the two teams since December 31st. In the previous 6 meetings, the Jr. Blues are 2-4. The visiting team has won every game in the series, with Michigan getting 4 wins in the Nelson Center and Springfield picking up 2 wins in Flint 3 weeks ago.

Michigan comes into the weekend with a 17-26-9 record and are winners of just 1 of their last 9 games. Before their win over Jamestown on Saturday night, the Warriors had been winless in 8 straight contests.

After this weekend, the Jr. Blues will have the weekend off before they face the 1st place Soo Eagles in Soo, Michigan, followed by the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings at home to finish the season. The Jr. Blues are currently tied for the 6th and final playoff spot in the North Division.

Strong Defense- Terry Leabo was named the NAHL Defensemen of the Month for Feburary this week. This honor includes the entire league, not just the North Division. Leabo has come out strong the second half of the season, specifically the month of February, which has been his strongest to date. In February, Leabo tallied 8 assists, including 2 games in which he had 3 assists. He also posted a +4 rating. Leabo currently leads all Jr. Blues defensemen with 25 points on 3 goals and 22 assists.

Last Home Stand The Jr. Blues will conclude their regular season play at home the 29th and 30th of March when they take on the Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings. Friday night will be presented by Memorial Sports Care and will be Billet Appreciation Night. The Jr. Blues will be having a special pre-game ceremony to honor all the billet families in the Jr. Blues program. Saturday Night will be Fan Appreciation Night presented by FitClub. The Jr. Blues will also be recognizing the 4 aging out players, Micah Ranum, Mitch Rogge, Jeff McFarland and Matt Leon, during a special pre-game ceremony.
