DenBeste Commits to Lake Superior State, 18th NCAA Commit from 2016-17 Roster

Aug 16, 2017

The Springfield Jr. Blues,  proud members of the North American Hockey League, are proud to announce that forward Spencer DenBeste has committed to play collegiate hockey at Lake Superior State University.

DenBeste, a native of Marquette, Michigan, is the 18th NCAA commit from the 2016-17 Springfield Jr. Blues team. In 12 games with Springfield last season, he totaled 3 goals and 5 assists.

Prior to joining Springfield, DenBeste played 2 seasons of midget hockey for the Soo Indians. He said familiarity played a big part when deciding where to play college hockey. “Playing in this town for the Soo (Indians) over the past two seasons, really got me accustom to the area. The campus is great, as well as the coaching staff. I don’t think there was a better fit for me than at Lake Superior State.”

Joining Springfield as a roster expansion player at the end of the 2016-17 season, DenBeste felt that his time in Springfield went very well. “It was great. Even though I only played in 11 or 12 games, the coaches and players made me feel like I was there all season long. It was my first taste of junior hockey and it really helped accelerate the process of getting myself to the next level.”

The Springfield Jr. Blues will kick off their 25th Anniversary Season with Pre-Season contests on September 8th, 9th and 10th. Download the Springfield Jr. Blues Mobile App to stay up to date on all Springfield Jr. Blues news!
