Blues Take Game 3!

Apr 12, 2012

The first period was typical of a Blues – Jets game, a lot of speed and quickness as the Blues ended the first stanza on the Power Play.  Both teams were not able to put the puck past Goalies, Antoni (Blues) or Kujava (Jets), and after the first twenty minutes it’s 0 – 0.  The Jets received a two minute penalty on Horton for a slash that led to the Blues Power Play, and the Blues will have 19 seconds left at the start of the second period.

More of the same was the description of period two until Chris Sitler took a pass from Kyle Cook and slammed it home for the goal at 12:06.  The Blues have hit hard on their checks tonight and I think it took its toll through the first two stanzas.  The Blues outshot the Jets 9 to 7, so after the first two periods the Blues have a 20 – 15 shots on goal lead.

The Blues expanded their 1 – 0 lead in the third on goals by Kyle Cook (short-handed) and Cody Dixon to make the score 3 -0.  The Jets scored with approximately 1:17 of the third to make the final score 3 – 1.

Tomorrow night the puck drops at 7:00 pm and if the Blues take that game they take the first round and move on.  If the Jets win we go back to Janesville for a 5:00 pm game.

The home jerseys were auctioned after the game and Tyler Parks had the highest bid of $500.00.  Tomorrow night we will auction the “Away” Jerseys.

A disappointing small  crowd was in house for tonight’s game, so come on out and cheer the Blues to victory tomorrow night.
