Draft Camp Success Stories: Brennan Blaszczak

Starting this Friday, the Springfield Jr. Blues will be hosting their annual Draft Camp. Springfield has used this camp to identify relatively unknown players, help them reach their potential as a hockey player and assist them in receiving NCAA scholarships. The camp is open to all hockey players.

This week, the Springfield Jr. Blues will be highlighting a recent success story everyday from past Draft Camps, including when they attended, their success in Springfield and where they are at currently in their hockey careers.

#14 Brennan Blaszczak-Forward

Brennan Blaszczak attended the Springfield Jr. Blues draft camp in May of 2015 after spending the previous season in the GOJHL. His impressive speed and ability to score earned him an invite to Springfield’s Main Camp. After Main Camp, he signed to play for Springfield in the 2015-16 season.

Over the course of two seasons in Springfield, Blaszczak played in 114 games, contributing 41 goals and 29 assists. His 41 goals is tied for 19th all-time in Springfield history. Blaszczak was also selected in both seasons to represent Springfield at the NAHL Top Prospects Showcase.

Last week, Blaszczak announced that he would continue his hockey career at the NCAA level, committing to play for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks for the 2017-18 season.

The Draft Camp begins Friday at The Nelson Center with games at 5:00pm and will run through Sunday. The camp is FREE for fans to attend and will feature and equipment sale on Saturday morning from 9am-12pm.
